3. Lets Talk

Say the Point and Verse out loud together.

No more stinking sin. It’s time to grow up!

Memory Verse: Luke 2:52 NIRV      Jesus became wiser and stronger! He also became more and more pleasing to God and to help people.

REVIEW QUESTIONS

  1. What do you think people can do to grow wiser and stronger for God?
  2. What do you think makes sin so stinky?
  3. Share one stinky sin you’d like to quit. Pray together to ask for God’s help.

4. Pray

Ask the children to share things they’d like to pray about. Write your prayer request so you can continue to pray for your family during the week. Pray together, give them a chance to lead the prayer if they want to. Not sure what to pray?

Pray this: God, Thank you for forgiving our sins. Please remind me of things I do that are sinful and refresh my mind so that I will not continue to do sin in these ways. I ask for your continued guidance with this. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

5. Activity

For this activity, you will need one bad smelling sticker, one good smelling sticker and a dice.

Each child will need to stick the nice sticker onto the back of the right hand and the bad smelling sticker onto the back of the left hand.

When we make a choice that disobeys God’s goo way, it is called sin. It breaks our friendship with God. That’s why sin stinks. This die will tell us if we have to smell something disgusting like sin or something sweet like godly choices.

Have the children take it in turns, if an odd number is rolled it is a sin and if an even number is rolled it is a godly choice. Continue this several times until the children begin to understand the application being presented.

Godly Choices- Read the bible, help a friend, do chores with a good attitude, pray, forgive others, etc                                Sinful Choices- Rolling eyes lying, cheating, stealing, hurting others, saying bad words, etc.
