1. Praise Party

Help your child engage. Worship to the music with your mouth and body. Ask your children to think about something they are thankful for this week and encourage them to think about that during worship and speak it out to God. Have fun and enjoy Jesus together!

3. Lets Talk

Say the Point and Verse out loud together:

I R.O.B. fear of its power when I live only for God.

Proverbs 29:25 – Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the LORD means safety.

KONNECT:

  1. How does fearing people trap us? It gets us to make wrong choices or keeps us from doing things God wants us to do.
  2. Why do you think it’s hard to trust God and obey Him when other people tell us not to? Answers will vary.
  3. Why is it better to trust God than to fear people? You CAN always trust God to love, forgive, help, and care about you, but you CAN’T always know how people are going to act.

Action-step question:

  1. What is one thing you’ll do this week to obey God that you’re usually afraid people will make fun of you for? Answers will vary.

4. Pray

Ask the children to share things they’d like to pray about. Write your prayer request so you can continue to pray for your family during the week. Pray together, give them a chance to lead the prayer if they want to. Not sure what to pray?

Pray this: GOD, REMIND US EVERY DAY THAT IT’S BETTER TO LIVE ONLY FOR YOU. I THANK YOU THAT WE CAN TRUST IN YOU, EVEN WHEN WE’RE AFRAID OF WHAT PEOPLE MIGHT DO. IN JESUS’ NAME,

AMEN

5. Play

 1. Checklist Challenge – print out the attached sheet and see who is your family can complete the most challenges.

2. Sharing Jesus Activity – Resources need: Small crosses (3 per child), Bucket (1 per group)

Instructions: Say: A lot of people are afraid to share Jesus because they don’t know how people will act about it. But don’t let the fear of people trap you and keep you from doing what God made you to do! Let’s think of ways to share Jesus, no matter what!

Place bucket in center of group. Give each kid 3 crosses to hold. Kids brainstorm ways they can share Jesus with others. When kids have an idea, they toss a cross into the bucket.

Examples, for your Share Jesus list:

  • Did you know Jesus loves you?
  • I’d love to take you to church with me.
  • Can I pray with you? I believe God hears our prayers.
  • Do you believe in Jesus? I do, and I love Him a lot.
  • Would you like to read the Bible with me?
  1. Reaching for Hearts

This game is to teach us how important it is to support each other as in trying to spread the good news about Jesus.

Resources Needed: You’ll need candy bars and clear packing tape.Play: One person tapes a lolly onto the wall high enough so it can’t be reached. The object of the game is to reach the lolly without the help of furniture or other people. Get a person to try and grab the lolly. Once they’ve given up, have them form groups of three and work together to reach. Compare the two attempts, Ask: What ways do you tell your friends about your faith? Why is it important to work together and support each other as Christians? How can you support a friend this week?

    4. Play a game of truth, or dare
