1. 1.Who was yelling mean things at King Saul’s army? (A giant, Goliath)
2.Were King Saul’s soldiers afraid of Goliath or proud of him? (Afraid)
3.There was one person who wasn’t afraid. What was his name? (David)
4.Why was David not afraid to fight Goliath? (He knew God was with him)
5.What happened when David let a stone fly from his sling? (It hit Goliath’s forehead and he fell to the ground)
6. Can you talk to God when you are afraid? What can you say? (I’m afraid, please help me, please protect me)
ACTIVITY:
Colouring sheet – I can be a hero like David!
Game-“We are not afaid!”
1. Lay Rock Cards in center of group, with rocks facing up.
2. Allow each child to turn over two cards. a. If the cards do not match, turn cards back over, & let next child try. b. If cards match, then ask: Are you afraid of (picture)? (Allow child to respond) Who can help you not be afraid? (God)
3. Continue until each child has had a turn or until all cards have been matched.
4. Say the following: God can give us the super strength to NOT BE AFRAID! We can be a hero, like David, when we remember that God is always with us.
HOLD UP Goliath Picture. Have each kid say today’s Need to Know, then throw ONE marshmallow at Goliath’s head! Then kids can eat their remaining marshmallows!
